Lost in the Wilderness

Overland Track Hike - Central Highlands, TASMANIA

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the Overland Track Hike across Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park in the Central Highlands of Tasmania will take you away from it all for five days. The hike is about 90km of spectacular scenery that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in Australia.

You and your buddies will be carrying everything you need for the week, except water. Get ready to discover a real appreciation for instant porridge, noodles and muesli bars! The variety of scenery is amazing, including glacial valleys, waterfalls, rainforest, eucalyptus forest, moorland and alpine meadow.

If a five day hike isn’t enough and you want more time to be at one with nature, there are lots of shorter sidewalks on the Overland Track. Cradle Mountain and Mount Ossa summits are a must. Climb Barn Bluff, go for a swim at Old Pelion Hut or check out the Ferguson Falls.

Rarely will you enjoy the sense of achievement you’ll feel when you walk out of the park, exhausted at the end of the week. You can enjoy a delicious cocktail or warming single malt at the Lake St Clair visitor centre to celebrate! Remember, if you leave your car at the end and catch the hiker’s bus service to the starting point, it will be exactly where you want it when you finally cross the finish line.
